RED BULL QUICKSAND 18/5/2019

What a race to start the blog off on, I entered the race knowing it would be tough but never actually run in sand before not alone for a mile against some incredibly fast females!

The race had a knockout system which is quite a familiar structure to most Red Bull events, I think it’s great because depending on what event it is you need to learn to be strategic to get to that final round and gear yourself up for taking on the best.

I have to be honest though I wasn’t strategic this time, I blasted out the first heat and semi finals relatively easy but it was the finals when everybody obviously took it up a notch i had to really work to keep the lead and it showed on the finish line.

I tried to keep as light as possible on the sand and over stride to avoid spending too much time in the sand, the downhills were great, trying to leap most up them and pre planning my up hills before hitting them.. some of the dunes had good footprint steps from previous runners so would try my best to get to the dune climbs first and pick the best route.

Next Red Bull will be 400 in France!
